There have been a few parent-child related things in the last little while that have made me really question my faith in the general goodness of the human race in general. This is one of them. I opened up one of the forums I use to find that one of the users is having this horrible tragedy going on in their neighborhood. Click here to read the article. Anyways, the long and short of it is that this father reports a "runaway", they tell him to come down to the police station to file a missing persons report. Doesn't bother to tell them that it's his daughter and that she's six years old. He gets down there and tells them that she's seven. Then he tells them that she's actually six. The only picture he can provide is over a year old. He says she's run away after they have an argument. Okay, first of all, who argues with a six year old? There is no arguing with kids, you tell them how things are, by arguing with them, you're just acting like a child. Second of all, who lets their six year old just walk out of the house and doesn't follow them? I did a little bit of research and found this article which indicates that the girl's biological mother has not seen her daughter in five years. The girl's father took her children and did not tell her where she was. This morning, an article comes out indicating that police have recieved information from a family member that this girl has, in all probability been dead for over a year and a half, and that she was killed in the home of her father and his girlfriend. This leads some interesting questions. --> WHY would the father call the police after all this time? --> WHY would the father report this to the police if he won't co-operate at all? Stuff like this really makes me want to get my social work degree. :(
